As a newly established organisation, the Dwarf Sports Association Ireland, (DSAI), has already competed in various sports at the World Dwarf Games in Michigan, USA in August 2013. Team Ireland brought home 46 medals in total from Michigan, including 17 gold.
Now with the upcoming World Dwarf Games to be held in Guelph, Onario, Canada in 2017; the Team have been in training for this prestigious event which is held once every four years around the world. The DSAI have had terrific support from other disability organisations including Enable Ireland and the Irish Wheelchair Association.
Members of Team Ireland come from all parts of the country – from Donegal to West Cork, Belfast to Galway – a true representation of the sporting talent that exists on this small island.
With the dream of representing their country in International competition now reality, nine of team Ireland athletes will be heading off to Canada in August 2017 to compete in the World Dwarf Games competing in sports including track and field, swimming, badminton, Powerlifting and team events (Soccer andBasketball).
